Born in Venice in 1985, Elisabetta Sfarda, artistic name Sfard-Art, has always been passionate about every form of art and creativity. Her artistic journey began by experimenting with different techniques: drawing, watercolor, oil, and finally, the usage of acrylic color, which marks the artist’s distinctive stroke. Inspired by the poetry of “Arte Povera”, Elisabetta started her research on volume and matter, which she uses to give movement and depth to her paintings. This is achieved through the usage of different materials and supports, most of them recycled. In her works the artist uses materials and colors as symbolic vehicles of feelings and emotions. The first and focal point of her journey is the “shirt”, an iconic garment representing a ritual element full of emotional value. Elisabetta fixes, frames and paints, in the bi-dimensional surface of her canvas, shirts mirroring personal and collective stories, real lives and imaginary ones. In this way she gives a new life to “used shirts”, which would no longer be used in everyday wearing.

The shirts can find a new meaning and value in her artwork, as mirrors of the emotional universe of the people who wore them and at the same time as sentimental reflections of a story, among the multiple possible of their lives. In her expressive journey, Elisabetta has decided to dress the soul with art. A last particular detail: a trained eye will also notice that in all her paintings there is a common feature: all the shirts always have one button different from the others, with the Italian flag colors, to symbolize the artist’s strong link with her homeland. Elisabetta has been showcasing her work in many personal and collective exhibits, among the most important Venice, Palermo, Rome and Los Angeles.
